First off.. How are you doing?
I’m good man. Life threw a bunch of curve balls that showed me just how resilient I am. Did what was necessary to get through the pandemic and just working for another opportunity to get back on the road and potentially back overseas.
What is your current DJ setup?
Practice setup: Rane 62 + 2 Technic 1200’s with M447s Road Setup: Pioneer S9 with 2 CDJs or my Pioneer SRT 1000
What is the career highlight that stands out the most to you?
I don’t think I have a career highlight yet. I’ve been blessed in so many ways from touring or opening for many industry artists, Guest DJing on large cruise lines, to DJing Internationally. I guess my highlight would be that, until this past January, I was DJing enough that I did not have to have a 9-5 for the past 8 years.
How do you balance your relationship with giving the listeners what they want and putting them on to music you want to expose them to?
Working for IHeart radio honestly prepared me best for this question. I was taught to always pocket new music. Play an unknown song between two popular songs. Depending on your blend or mix, most people won’t skip a beat. You get to intro a new or underground record and still keep the flow of the room.
DJs are the original record breakers, so what artist do you currently support?
An artist that I still have my eye on are: Symba out of Oakland track: GOAT | DEno out of Brixton,London UK track: Drizzy | Headie London, UK track: Only Freestyle
Pass the torch. What DJ should MyWayDJ interview next and why?
BigTunez The DJ (@wheresbigtunez) … versatile DJ that has opened for several artists and helped break a lot of artists as well as one of the most hardworking people I know.
